Polish State owned chemical company Grupa Azoty is interested in taking most of the shares in metallurgy and chemical Slovenian firm Cinkarna Celje. Others companies thinking about buying Cinkarna Celje are the companies from Austria and United States. – reports Croatian newspaper Poslovni Dnievnik.
According to the Croatian business newspaper, Polish chemical group Azoty is interested in buying a 73 per cent stake in the Slovenian company Cinkarna Celje. This company from metallurgy and chemical sector is a producer of zinc and TiO2. Established in 1873, Cinkarna Celje’s company produces also a titanium dioxide pigment. Interested investors could send offers by mid-April. Other potential bidders are Austrian Treibacher Industrie and US investment group The Gores Group. Cinkarna Celje generated a profit of EUR 14.2 million in 2014. This year company predict sales at the level of around EUR 177 million.
In December last year, state holding company SDH, which has a 70.8 per cent stake in Cinkarna Celje, said that following the submission of non-binding bids, some investors were invited to the second stage of the process. Two years ago Slovenian government made a short list comprising 15 companies for sale. This list included Cinkarna Celje. This is one of the solutions to improve the budget of the country and help recover from the economic crisis.
